Nowadays we are experiencing highly polluted air all over our city which is highly harmful for our health.
The main factors for this situation are the increasing amount of people using private transportation instead of public vehicles and their carelessness with the periodic checkings of their vehicles, the lack of government regulations and sanctions regarding environmental pollution allows big factories to contaminate the air, also due to the fact that the city is located on a valley and because of its overall geography pollution is never taken away by the winds.
Such conditions create an environment that is highly harmful for human health; the huge amounts of gases especially CO, CO2, NO and NO2 can trigger lung illnesses such as bronchitis. All the polluting gases leave stains in many of the city’s buildings deteriorating how they look and making them expensive to maintain causing structural damage, finally, we end up with a city that looks dirty when looked at from both the inside and the outside negatively affecting tourism.
